Don't Forget To Let Us Hear You Speak

Because our classes are highly conversation-focused, it is very helpful for us to hear a brief sample of you speaking the language you wish to study. This allows us to better understand your current level and recommend the class that best fits your needs.

Please speak for 2–4 minutes, using complete sentences and speaking clearly.

You may choose one or more of the prompts below:

  • Describe a typical day at work or at home.

  • Talk about a recent experience or event.

  • Explain why you want to learn this language and how you plan to use it in the future.

If you are a healthcare provider, you may choose one or more of the following prompts:

  • Tell us about your role and the type of patients you work with.

  • Describe a common patient interaction or situation you encounter.

  • Talk about a communication challenge you face with patients and how you would like to improve.

You may record your sample using your computer’s audio or a smartphone and save the file. When completing our intake form, simply upload the recording when prompted.

If you are completely new to the language, you may skip this step.

Let's Start!

Get your phone or computer and record a short message in the language you want to learn. You will be asked to upload your recording after you complete your placement test. We’d love to hear you—thank you!
