 We are often asked who our typical students are. We can't easily
answer that question. For Spanish, many people work in companies or agencies where
knowledge of the language is important, or they are moved to communicate with the
many Spanish speakers in our area. For other languages students might be looking
to brush up on their French or are planning a trip to France;
some are heading to Italy and want to learn basic conversation.
Others want to learn some Japanese, Mandarin, Thai, Portuguese,
Hindi, Farsi, ... just for fun.
CHICLE offers regular 4-week 16-hour sessions of Spanish throughout
the year. Other language classes are usually 9 hours per session
and are offered at different times on demand.
We also work with health care students, businesses, public agencies, and non-profits and design special courses for them. Our classes are small and interactive.
All courses feature an up-to-date curriculum based on the teaching experience of our instructors, who are either native speakers of the language they teach or fluent speakers who have lived in the country whose language they teach. The pronunciation and usage that students learn is just what they would have learned were they able to live in the county whose language they studey.
16-hour Spanish classes,
with materials included, are $305; other languages generally meet for 1.5 hours a
week for six weeks. These 9-hour classes are $170. Materials
are extra for the non-Spanish classes and cost varies by class.
We also offer private classes in almost any language we've
been asked to teach. They cost $40/hour. Semi-private classes
(two people) cost $30/person/hour.
We have online placement tests for Spanish, French, Italian,
and English. If you complete one and submit it, it will help us to place you. Don't
work hard on it or look up answers! We want to place you in the appropriate level.
